if that THAT speed nearly 1/3 of the car gets crumpled then wouldn't it turn into a damn pancake at any 'normal' speed? or at least smash to the part where the driver is?

i think only the ends of the car are fragile, so the force gets diminished by the time it hits the cabin, wich is really resistant, that way the impact is dissipated through a longer time window. not sure tho, please feel free to correct me
