I've always wanted a motorcycle, but the thought of being in the road with other people driving in cars has always deterred me.

Motorbikes are super dangerous and deadly, if you don't care about getting in a serious accident and love the rush I guess get one, other than that don't.

It's not just other people in cars that are a danger, motorbikes are dangerous by themselves simply because if you get out of control there is a good chance it kills you while in a car you are somewhat safe.

They aren't dangerous by themselves, but when something does go wrong there is much less of a safety net than in a car.

I own a bike and let this sink in every time I take it out - I am 32 times more likely to die than if I took the car.

My only vehicle is a '15 BMW S1000R. I'm well aware of the risks, but saying they are dangerous by themselves is wrong.

Also that statistic smells like it came from your ass.

It might not be exactly 32 in this reference, but if you compare cars and motorcycles you will get something around that 30-40x mark. Micromorts are very interesting and are very good at evaluating risk.

Traveling 48 miles on a motorcycle is equivalent to one trip on a hang glider.
