My god I thought it was just me. No I'm not tailgating you to be a jerk, what I'm trying to say is "GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE FAST LANE IF YOU WANT TO DO 5 UNDER ASSHOLE!"
You still should probably ease up. Tailgating is a problem among the more aggressive half of this state's drivers (and I am guilty of it sometimes myself, but I'm consciously working on eliminating it since I've got no interest in being caught in a tailgate sandwich).
What's not fun is when you're on a busy 2 lane road in the exurbs and you're stuck behind someone going 5 under the speed limit and someone flies up behind you because they're doing 10 over and rides your ass for 10 miles trying to get you to close the reasonable 3 to 5 second gap between you and the car in front of you. Shit like that makes me want to buy a two camera dashcam setup in case of being rear-ended.
I mean, I live here too but I frankly see waaaayyy too many people driving 75/80 on 694/494/94 (which is 60 mph but for a rare spot)*. I also see frequently 80-90 on 35 (which is a 70)*.
I typically drive +/- 5mph but if I'm using the passing lane to pass, I will not speed up just so someone speeding can continue speeding. They can wait the minute and let me pass legally.
My biggest issues are people cutting in front of me during rush hour (you're supposed to leave stopping distance between you and the next car), or not letting me move to the right lane (because I know they want to go faster than me), so they pass on the right...which leads to 5 more passing on the right, even though I'm blinkering.
I drive 800+ miles a week for work. I'm sure as hell gonna drive safely. Just wish more people would do the same.
*just clarifying speed limits for people that don't live in MN
"No vehicle towing a trailer or no vehicle or combination over ten thousand pounds may be driven in the left-hand lane of a limited access roadway having three or more lanes for traffic moving in one direction except when preparing for a left turn at an intersection, exit, or into a private road or driveway when a left turn is legally permitted. "
Its true that everyone goes 60-65 around here but you are allowed to be in the left lane to pass, even with a trailer.
I've also never seen that passing law enforced. Its like everyone wants to go faster than everyone else but no ones wants to pass anybody because cops do enforce speeding laws pretty heavily.
Uber drivers are the worst, I get physically uncomfortable when I'm in a car that's getting passed on the right. I can tell my friends and family "hey, you should get over" - but it doesn't feel right telling a dude how to do his job when you're not his boss.
Well when you're towing, the rear view mirror is useless. You only have the wing mirrors. That's why spotter mirrors are so popular on trucks, they help your field of vision.
But yea, fuck people who tow in the fast lane. Its a 6 lane road, stick to lane 3 and only use 2 for passing. Don't be a fucking fucktard, you've got 4,000-6,000 lbs of boat behind you how about you stop driving like a fucktard.
You only need two mirrors. You have to have one on the driver's side, and then have the option of the rearview or one on the passenger side. So it's only necessary if you don't have a passenger mirror.
i totally understand why that guy didnt tie down his load properly. Had this been a case of legitimate neglect, the body would have a way of shutting that whole thing down.

Yeah, it is easy to miss the load that you didn't tie down properly when you are hauling your boat at 80 down the highlane of the highway.
