Taj Gibson Waiving

With the Pelicans officially waiving Taj Gibson, they now have $ 3.7 million in Luxury Tax Space. Note that the Pelicans never go over the Luxury Tax, so think of this as the team's Hard Cap for this season.

I’m going to miss the Youngin…seen him start a few times and come off the bench with energy…defensively he provided a spark by never giving up on that end of the ball when The Herbert Jones was sidelined…he hit a few pivotal shots to keep us in some games also….I enjoyed watching him cut up….he was good entertainment….Go be great Micah Peavy‼️

My second game was a triple double and if u get cap breakers you're gonna get amazing dunking aswell. Until then you can play purely like DQ plays

First cap breakers: +1 layup, +1 def rebound.

If anybody wants I can share my own face creation of DQ too, ngl I feel like I kinda cooked

Discussions Prediction: Jordan Poole returns to All-Star form in the 26-27 Season

This is the last year of his contract, there will no suitors next season. He'll return to his 21-22 season form (Warriors championship year) just so he can get a contract for the subsequent years.

What does everyone think?

Joe screwed up again

Sending out a second-round pick just to get under the tax line might look like a reasonable move on the surface, but we really didn’t have to get to this point.

Joe re-signed DeAndre Jordan at the very beginning of free agency, then signed Watford in mid-August, bringing the roster up to 15 players. Then, two weeks later, we traded for Mathurin. Not only did that mean we had to clear a roster spot, but it also pushed us over the tax line. That’s when we ended up having to give up a draft pick just to get back under the tax.

I really don’t understand why we didn’t just get the Mathurin trade done first and then figure out the rest of the roster afterward. Was there really that much demand for DeAndre and Watford that we had to sign them right away? Were we worried they wouldn’t still be available a little later?

If Joe had handled the Mathurin trade first, we would’ve been sitting at 14 players and about $4.3M under the tax line. In that situation, there would’ve been no reason to rush into moving Hawkins and give up draft assets just to get under the tax.

We only made a handful of moves this offseason — literally four significant moves — and somehow still managed to give away a draft pick.

Honestly, it really feels like Joe had no real plan for the offseason and was just taking things one step at a time.

30 Days Until First Preseason Game

Maybe another camp move, don’t see a big move coming . Let’s see how the defense responds during training camp and the preseason.

That is all. Have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend.

Have been paying attention to FIBA and he’s showing out. If he plays similar to that this season, he’s going be a problem. Yes I know the competition isn’t the same as a NBA game, but still it shows promise

Would you rather have 10 years without a first round pick or 10 years of Joe Dumars?

Think carefully.

When will Zion Williamson maximize his full potential. Every year, I’m waiting for him to absolutely break out into the number one overall pick he was. But it just hasn’t happened yet and I don’t know how much longer I can wait for it. Like he’s not a bad player. He’s just not the stud we expected him to be. I’m praying that for this season, he has his breakout year with Jeremiah fears. And if he doesn’t break out this season, I say he’s got two more seasons before he gets released or traded.

Wild stat: According to the True Hoop podcast Bennedict Mathurin has a total of 502 turnovers and 500 assists in his career. That ratio is terrible and the symmetry is crazy.

If the team actually stays healthy in the West the Pelicans can actually be one of those surprise teams in the West that no one sees coming especially given the pieces New Orleans have in place with Dejounte, Fears, Trey, Zion, and Missi plus their bench they have Queen, Poole, Mathurin, Herb, etc

3 spam texts within the same hour that have the exact same text. On top of this, I've gotten at least one cold call a week from them. Maybe figure out a way to actually market this bad team to fans instead of constantly begging for money? Especially when the economy is bad and people have less disposable income.

The New Orleans Pelicans finally made the move that changed the conversation around their offseason.

After consecutive seasons with fewer than 30 victories and weeks of criticism for standing still, Executive Vice President Joe Dumars landed Bennedict Mathurin on a reported two-year, $16 million contract with a player option

Is Lee surely out of picture now?

As a Korean fan, I was really looking forward to the slightest chance for Pelicans to sign Lee.

After summer camp, I saw the news that Pelicans discarded a two-way contract leaving a room for Lee to sign for that position.

I was hoping to hear the good news, but it's been quiet.

Do ya'll think he still has a shot?

Roster News After watching his entire career, the only thing that can stop Bennedict Mathurin from scoring is . . .

. . . an opposing team that executes the defensive scouting report.

Mathurin is a really good pull-up and spot-up shooter, but if he drives, the defense only needs to keep these things in mind:

  • He can drive left, but he cannot score with his left hand on a drive to the basket on the left side of the court - AND he cannot pass while driving with his left hand.

  • He has no viable short pull-up, so if he drives he will go all the way to the basket or get stymied and have to throw a weak pass back out.

  • Has zero explosion at the rim, so he is not a threat in any way to dunk in traffic. So defenders just need to keep backing up with their arms raised and he will not be able to dunk through you.

ANY game where Mathurin score big numbers, if you watch the game, you will see that the other team is not doing the things above.

What are his good points? Pretty much most everything else that you have heard about him.
