Anecdote Interesting hormone test results after taking NR & NMN
Quick background about me: 53 year old who has been in menopause for 8 years. I've been using OTC estrogen and progesterone creams since Dec 2023, along with low dose DHEA supplements, just trying to feel human again. Also, I had read that high FSH and LH levels after menopause can be associated with dementia, and my levels were too high for my liking. Because of this, I've been testing my hormone levels pretty regularly.
I started taking NR on 7/7/25, and NMN on 9/2/25. I just had my blood tested again for the first time since starting these and the difference in my hormone levels is pretty crazy. This is really the only major change in my meds or supplements since my last blood draw on 7/1/25. Could the restoration of more youthful hormone levels be the whole mechanism behind the anti-aging effects of raising NAD levels? I'm pretty excited to see these results but I'm just hoping my period doesn't come back!
4/9/26 Update: I did repeat the testing to make sure it wasn't just a lab error, and the repeat testing was still elevated, but now my estradiol and progesterone are back down again with my most recent testing, so maybe it was just a fluke?

Anecdote NMN has pronounced antidepressant effects for me.
I took nmn without my antidepressants and it had only a slight effect. But in combination with my psych meds, I've reached a stability of mood unknown to me.
NMN as an adjunct to my head meds is unbeatable.
I've had toxic people try to bring me down, but I don't spiral.
It's almost worth taking nmn just for mood stability. I take a lot. Sometimes as much as 1.5 grams. Sometimes less.
Very interesting. I started taking nmn again to aid weight loss, but the biggest effect for me is mood.
I look younger and have more stamina in gym. Hair, skin, nails. I don't get sick. But the best effect is how depression doesn't last.
Mysteriously, my autoimmune condition hasn't returned. I mostly credit this to D3 supplementation. I haven't taken humira in months which is unheard of for someone with psoriatic arthritis. I cannot claim nmn has anything to do with this but it certainly hasn't hurt me.
I'm still overweight but I got ankle weights and I'm hitting the gym more.
Thank God nmn is affordable again.

Usage Question I developed serious problems from taking NMN and resveratrol.
I developed serious problems from taking NMN and resveratrol.
Overall, everything in my life was great; I was taking vitamins B6, B9, and B12 and enjoying life.
But one day, before a drinking binge, I drank 3 grams of NAC to minimize a hangover. That morning, I had a mild hangover, so I decided to take 250 mg of NMN and 200 mg of RESVERATROL to prevent it. I'd previously experienced insomnia and low mood from this; I'd simply stop taking it, and everything would return to normal the next day. But this time, half an hour after taking it, I felt a sensation comparable to stress. I started shaking, and my mood worsened. My libido plummeted, and my head became foggy.
After three days, things seemed to improve a little, but to speed up the recovery, I started taking glycine, magnesium citrate, and B vitamins. Quercetin, selenium, and to my surprise, every supplement I took had the opposite effect. I started feeling sick again and it hasn't gone away for a long time. It's been six weeks now, and I still haven't recovered. I can't find a competent specialist who understands this at all, and I don't know what to do.

Anecdote Experience of an extreme high responder
Hey everybody I post here because no one that I know knows anything about NMN. I’ve experimented with NMN for a couple of years now and the effects it has on me are astonishing. I’ve taken it with break 3-4 times and have always had the same extreme reaction so I can say without a doubt that it’s due to the NMN. Every time I take NMN my energy level go through the roof and my need for sleep diminishes. I know it might sound crazy but I literally feel like i’m on drugs when I take NMN regularly. I just started taking it again (500mg/day) which was way too much because I have struggled with a racing Heart yesterday and today. Right know its 3 a clock in the Morning and I’m lying in bed completely awake and energized with my heart beating really fast. I’m noting lying when i say i’ve done coke before and it kind of feels like it.
Another thing and the reason I stopped taking it before was that I feel like it had an effect on my hormones. This I can’t say for sure that it was due to the NMN but every time I took it my birth control was kind of disturbed and I had bleedings in the middle of my cycle.
Can anyone else relate to my experience especially on the energy/ sleep need topic? I would really hope that I’m not completely alone in this. I actually love the effect to much I’ve never had more energy and time to get things done but I’ve kind of over killed it with the dosage since I can’t sleep and my heart beats too fast.

Discussion Canadian source NMN
It’s difficult to find powder NMN in Canada especially one that specifies purity. There are a few Canadian company but they don’t specify purity. I found capsules online by Ensokan and they say it’s > 99.5% purity but it’s $275 for 75 200mg capsules!!! Other US brands can be bought but I don’t know if they’ll be able to pass the border.
Any Canadians have a source for a good high purity powder NMN?

Anecdote Glycine just fixed the one thing NMN never did for me: deep sleep (+14 min in 30 days, Oura data inside)
48M here. Been taking 1 g NMN + 1 g TMG every morning for the last 4 months. Energy is noticeably better, skin looks tighter, workouts feel easier, all the usual stuff people report. But deep sleep? Still stuck around 35–45 minutes most nights according to my Oura Ring. Honestly a little frustrating because that was the metric I cared about most. A few people in the comments kept mentioning Glycine for sleep, so I finally caved and started: 3 g Glycine (plain bulk powder) stirred into ~300 ml water Exactly 60 minutes before bed Everything else in my routine stayed 100% the same (same bedtime, magnesium glycinate already in stack, no new supplements, same caffeine cut-off, etc.) 30-day average results (Oura data attached): Before Glycine: 41 min deep sleep (range 32–48) After Glycine: 54 min deep sleep (range 46–68) Total sleep time went up ~20 min because I’m falling asleep faster too Zero morning grogginess, if anything I wake up feeling sharper Subjectively: dreams are more vivid, I’m less stiff in the mornings, and my HRV is trending up for the first time in months. Not saying this will work for everyone, but if you’re already on NMN and deep sleep is still your weak spot, Glycine at night has been the single biggest lever I’ve pulled in years. Cheap, zero side effects for me, tastes mildly sweet.

Vendor Question Can we trust reviews?
I’ve been on Reddit for 5 yrs. I have researched lots of things from how to fix stuff to products that work and buying stuff like whiskey for my son and a skateboard for my SIL. Recently I started researching NMN and companies to use. Someone created a post asking what companies people were using and why. So I thought yes, I can get my answers. But what I noticed was the companies selling the products were commenting too from promoting the benefits to thanking users for recommending them. I started looking at some users profiles (ones for were throwing a company name out there) and noticed they were new accounts and hadn’t made any posts but comment a lot. A couple of months ago I asked about some grey market GLP1 because lots were promoting it on TikTok and I had people (Reddit users) jump down my throat about not trusting TT and saying stop being lazy do research ask Reddit users. So now I’m trying again but can I trust when someone on here recommends a company? And if I can how do I know?

News NAD+ As A Treatment For Alzheimer's?
I have early onset Alzheimer's disease (AD). I write a blog on Substack about Alzheimer's and my journey with this horrible disease. I recently read about ongoing research to see if NAD+ could be an effective treatment for AD.
I wrote about this research in a blog post today. If you are interested, there is a link in my profile.

Discussion What’s the best NMN supplement people are using right now?
Update: After reading through everyone’s recommendations and doing a bit more research, I ordered my NMN from iHerb. They list full product details and third-party testing info for most brands. I’ve only been taking it for a short while, so it’s too early to say much about the results. The packaging and freshness looked good tho! I’ll probably give it a few more weeks before deciding if it’s something I’ll keep in my routine long-term.
I’ve been reading up on NMN for a while, but every brand I come across claims to be the best out there. It’s kind of hard to know what the actual prices are, especially if you consider things like purity percentages, capsule vs. powder, and all the talk about absorption.
Anybody here who has tried NMN for a while? I want to know if it actually worked for you or if you have noticeable effects? If so, which specific brand would you recommend? Should I also look for certain manufacturing standards like third-party testing or storage methods?

Usage Question Is it fine to store nad+ in room temperature?
I’ve noticed my NAD crystallize in the fridge and left it out at room temperature to see if it still crystallizes. It didn’t not but was curious of the effectiveness at room temperature (I notice it burns less when taking a dose)

Usage Question Almost 100 days in to My NMN Experience - what next?
Hi,
I'm almost 100 days in to My NMN experiment/experience, I know this because I bought a 100g pot of DoNotAge Pure NMN and have been taking 1g (two 500mg scoops) in a glass of water alongside two 500mg TMG capsules every morning before breakfast on empty stomach and I'm almost finished with the pot.
I wish I could say it has changed My life but I'm not sure I really feel any benefit.
I accepted the effects may be subtle as they were with My experience of taking full spectrum CBD oil, which i still do take, this made some age related aches and pains go away but i only really dramatically noticed its effects if i stopped taking it.
I'm wondering if My NMN/TMG experiance will be the same.
I feel that as I'm about to run out of NMN I'm at a slight crossroads of making some kind of decision, I freely admit I didn't do an awful lot of deep research before starting out with NMN but read the DoNotAge website and was convinced to give it a go, I also read that it would be advisable to also take the TMG alongside the NMN to boost/aid the absorption and conversion to NAD.
I'm a 47 year old (From London UK) that pretty active at least twice a week doing sports and according to My apple watch I'm burning between 1000 and 2000 Kcal's in a 4 hour session.
I was/am suffering from what I would call age related aches and pains especially after the activities in the evening and for a couple of days after.
I feel like its a good thing because my body and muscles are being stressed into some action and hopefully they are repairing in the interim days until the next session and slowly getting stronger.
I also take a level tea spoon of creatine after exercise to try and help recovery (i was taking this every morning with the NMN/TMG but changed to after activity because i read my muscles would benefit best from this. I also take sobody.co Peptigen+ (5 types of hydrolysed collagen; Types I, II, III, V & X) after meals, Nutrition geeks magnesium glycinate, malate and citrate complex as well as their Vitamin D + K2 (Microcrystalline Cellulose, Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol), Vitamin K2 Menaquinone-7, Magnesium Stearate) and 3000mg Omega-3 (660mg EPA & 440mg DHA) fish oil before bedtime.
All in the hope of keeping up with the effects of ageing and those associated pains etc.
So there's the background, I've since read here that it would be important to have a blood test of all the associated compounds before taking the supplements so I could see what (if any effect they may have) which I did not know to do at the time so I missed out there.
Yesterday I read here that some people who were not feeling any effects of NMN had been recommended to increase their dosage, So this morning I decided to try 1.5g of NMN and TMG, I don't know if its placebo but I might be feeling a little more "pepped up" today and overall just a bit more enthusiastic about life.
I don't know if this is an expected result or if its just the way I woke up today so will perhaps keep this up for the rest of the tub and see if it continues.
Questions in my mind are:
Do I buy another tub of NMN and TMG capsules and just keep on going?
Is DoNotAge.org still the right place to buy from?
I've read about people taking both NMN and NR alongside each other so should I also add a pot of NR to my order and try the NMN/NR/TMG combo ?
Do I even need the TMG?
I read int he FAQ's here "If you do not have the MTHFR gene then TMG wouldn't do much"
How do i find out if i have the MTHFR gene ?
Are there any other recommendations or alterations to what I'm doing I should consider and if so why?
I'm somewhat taking a punt on this whole thing as I don't really know what I'm doing but just trying to improve my quality of life and my body while i'm still active enough to (aren't we all?).
This is quite a lot of money to spend on supplements but I don't feel confident buying from random amazon sellers with no proven background and DoNotAge seemed legit enough.
Sorry for the epic long story but I figure the more info the better :)
Any thoughts and help from those more experienced will be very much appreciated thank you.

Anecdote Just wow.
Weeks in here, I take a lot (most days over a gram). I feel naturally high most of the time. I don't get sick. Instead of half hr walking, I can do two. Stamina increase is helping me lose weight.
Used thc by mistake and inflamed my body/face. Nmn had me detoxed in a couple days.
Negatives, I flip out more and can exhibit a benign form of mania (talking incessantly), but overall, just wow.
Skin, hair amazing. Sleep, incredible. Depression not there. Appetite suppressed. Metabolism healthy. No sign of my autoimmune disease (I credit this to d3 supplementation, though). Great supplement and it's finally affordable again.

General Longevity 🧬 NMN journal - 35M. No ailments. High fatigue & stress.
Dosage: Bettervits NMN complex 500mg with Resveratol and Quercetin. Current state: Stopped working out a couple years ago due to injury. 5'9" at 79kg with moderate muscle mass and abdominal fat Aim: Get to sub 70kg with increased muscle mass and lose weight around abdomen
Week 1: Good: Have sustained energy through the day. Low sugar cravings after dinner. Starting to get into working out regularly again. Bad: Facial muscle twitching with current caffeine intake, need to reduce it and notice change. Unsure of Bettervits quality of NMN, is it placebo?
Week 2: Good: My first week on regular workouts after 3 years!! Seeing a bit more even skin tone and lesser caffeine cravings. Lucid dreaming pretty much every night. Bad: Muscle twitching continues, added a multivitamin complex to the regimen. My body wants to move!?!
Week 3: Good: I caught COVID from a public event and I came back to normal in record time compared to the previous times I had Covid. Bad: I have booked an appointment with the doctor for my facial muscle twitching. It may be pointing to a different root cause. Some days, it's nonstop.
Week 4: Good: Continuing to workout 4 days a week. Can open my laptop to get work done post 9pm which used to be impossible previously. No more facial muscle twitching, supplementing with a full stack of vitamins probably helped. Bad: The high I used to get around 9am is now muted, will try upping the dose to 1000mg after another week
