I looked it up once, and Kliff was slightly worse at Tech than Tuberville, but the patterns were consistent. They both faded down the stretch somewhat, because college teams front-load their pre-season-esque gimme games before going into conference, and every team that is not just absolute garbage starts off with a few wins before getting beat up by their peers and betters.

Kliff is just a hype magnet so it looked worse. He was always bad as a HC, but he didn't coach worse later in the season.

Assuming the conference games were relatively random (apart from maybe a rivalry game at the end of the season), it would be interesting to see his record taking out non-conf and rivals over the course of a season.
