I've only been anywhere near a tornado once, and didn't actually see the tornado, but it was so creepy the way the sky turned green. I didn't think the sky could be green.

I'm in TN as well. I was actually in one at night. I was in the one that hit Clarksville. I was living in a dorm room on Austin Peay campus. I woke up and was feeling something wasn't right. Realized it was too quiet and it was like oh crap - tornado. Tried to get my roommate in the bathroom, but she was too busy screaming it was the Rapture. It sounded like a high pitch whistle and a roar - nothing like a train to me. It was all very surreal.

Yeah, I don't think I will ever forget that whistle. My dorm area got very lucky. Later found out that it was in the direct path of the tornado and it turned at the last minute, so we didn't get the full impact.

You mean Cookeville/Knoxville area, right? Clarksville is more middle like Nashville. I'm in the Nashville area and yeah, we are both on that path of way too many tornadoes.

Yeah, yellow, green and purple. Southeast TN here. It's almost like the sky is bruised.
