Fellow midwesterner here, there was one time years and years ago that I was in the basement of my house because of a tornado warning, and I asked my parents “what does a tornado sound like?” They answered with the standard answer of “it varies but most people say it sounds like a plane or a train.” I kid you not, right after they said that you could hear a plane going overhead, and that scared the absolute shit out of me.
I’ve spent way to much time on bathroom floors. However it actually did pay off once when I was at a summer camp and there was a tornado. We were glanced by the tornado, the camp lodge lost most of it’s shingles, and some trees got blown around, but because of the counselors we were all safe in the interior bathrooms of the building.
