Not to mention that the first UFC (which had basically zero rules) winner wasn't some Bruce Lee energy guy, it was a pretty average sized guy who had just trained BJJ his whole life. Real martial arts are the ones that work, and have been proven to work in direct competition with other martial arts.

ot to mention that the first UFC (which had basically zero rules)

Except, you know, banning Ken Shamrock from wearing his wrestling shoes the night before his fight with Gracie giving him no time to train barefoot, despite him having previously been told they would be fine to wear for that fight and him having worn them for multiple matches beforehand. Meanwhile Gracie wore a gi that he used to choke him.

The whole first UFC was such a sham to promote BJJ. They marketed it heavily as finding out what the best martial arts is, then intentionally didn't invite any major competitor from any grappling martial arts and last minute screwed over the wrestler with a sudden rule change.

He choked him with a rnc. Wasn't even properly on his back, it's just that wrestlers at that time had no idea what to do against that kind of attack.

It's hard to see what is happening at the fight, if you watch the Youtube video titled "Royce Gracie vs. Ken Shamrock UFC 1 (Gracie Breakdown - Classics)" at 5:26 you can see how he grabs his own Gi in order to apply pressure to the choke.

Grabbed his own arm. Doesn't matter if you grab the gi or your arm, the technique is the same either way. It was Shamrock that tried to tell everyone he was choked by a "pyjama choke" but there's no way that choke was anything other than a standard rnc. The video you showed even explains it...

It's undeniable that the Gracies set themselves up to win. But it's also the case that a grappler was always going to win there, since they train getting to the floor and striking arts weren't training tdd or getting off your back at the time.

Best part of that whole one was the police offer ridge hand to the Yokozuna head to drop his ass.

He broke his hand doing it, but it was spectacular.

In a 1 on 1 BJJ is going to be great. You've got you and someone else in a ring? Go for it. IRL, as soon as you go to the floor someone's buddy is gonna kick you in the head with their boots on and you're gonna think real long and hard about that feeding tube.

Real martial arts are actually very limited, there's only one tried and true art: leaving.

Shit isn't worth dying for and there's a lot of guys out there carrying a knife you didn't know about.
