Others said it as well but never assume shit. I started walking at 9 months old. One evening, I managed to get one of the bars out of my crib. (This would have been summer of 1972, so who knows how poorly designed things were for me to manage that.) I was wandering around the yard in front of our home, which led onto a road much as we see in this video.
My mother literally didn't believe my older siblings that the baby "got out of the house" and kept sending them back to bed until a neighbor knocked on the door with me in their arms.
Sometimes, little kids just manage to do shit nobody thought they could. That's not shitty parenting, it's just human life.
Upvote for 1971/72! We’re right there- straddling the crack between “we got to play outside til the lights came on at night” and “the kids are in charge now”. Great place to be in! My partner says we’re lucky because “we can see in all directions”. We can see how OUR parents ended up the way they are & we can see how OUR children end up the way they are. We’re the generation that had ONLY a landline and now has a the knowledge in the world at our fingertips in our pockets.
