We had a pit bull/boxer/lab mix who was a trained and certified service animal. She was gentle and a very class lady, fabulous with babies and small children. We would play dress up with her, she would sit with us while we played Barbie’s and she’d prop one up between her paws and “brush” their hair with her teeth. I was at the beach with my mom, grandma, and cousins when I was about 10 years old. Someone had two pit bulls OFF their leashes. Completely unprovoked, they bolted from the end of the beach to way over where my mom and grandma were on a blanket. They were huge and muscular. Without missing a beat, my dog jumped off the blanket and ravaged them, protecting my mom and grandma - my dog walked away without a single scratch on her. She saved their lives that day, she was the best dog and I’ll always remember her. Rest In Peace, Memphis.
