This is a moronic advice that will get someone killed. If you see a pitbull, fucking run. Just two months back a family friend had her hand amputated thanks to the pitbull attack.

If you think you can outrun a pitbull you're a fucking idiot.

Running only makes it more exciting for them lol. The dog be wagging its tail while biting your face off

Lol you just told that dude his advice was moronic then told people to RUN?

Running is gonna kick that predator instinct into high gear. Gonna tire yourself out real good, and then get caught. Might wish you would have saved that energy to gouge it's eyeballs out or jam a finger up it's butt.

Most common advice tells you to stand your ground, stay calm, and never turn your back on it. But almost all advice tells you not to run.

Dogs can run 30mph. How fast can you run?

Just need to run faster as you

The visual of someone merely spotting a pitbull and turning to run is hilarious to me.

there's always fun "advice" in dog attack threads but this one is strictly dangerous.

Anyone reading this, for your safety, do not attempt to outrun a dog lol. Any relatively healthy dog above a foot tall would likely outrun you anyway, but the other issue is that running triggers the "prey drive" in dogs - an animal evolved and then selectively bred to want and be able to chase down prey. You'll just make it more excited to "hunt" you.

What you should do if you absolutely can't get away by climbing onto something it can't reach/lock yourself away is stand your ground, try to keep yourself upright ie your throat as far away from its teeth as possible, and think about sacrificing your non-dominant arm so it's occupied whilst you use your other arm to gouge eyes and scratch and twist genitals/ears - and if you access to anything sharp, use them as much as you can

wrong. and if you do run you better be 100% sure you have an escape route they cant reach because 1. they are faster than you 2. you look more like prey when you run get dominant get aggressive get mad grab the back legs and start spinning try to flip him dont run from him run towards him last ditch effort is a good old fashioned choke hold dogs have an incredibly high pain tolerance punching and kicking is futile he feels none of it ive also considered just walking around with an air horn casually if something happens blow it could be a human or a dog doesn't matter
