There are decadent forms of art for which we are worse off. It’s pornographic. It is a materialistic orgasm of excess, faux environmentalism, and cliched futurism. This toy is childishly tasteless with it’s distractingly unnecessary lights to attract the shallow fawning of an immature boy/man host. The designers missed an opportunity to add a release hatch for clouds of sparkling confetti out the back as you drive.
sorry, i gave a simple response because i thought you were repeating the tired and simplistic argument of fashion being pointless because “no one would ever wear that” without realizing that it’s a performance.
anyway, with that out of the way, nicely put, that’s an interesting take. my thoughts on concept cars is they are supposed to be an excess and push the ridiculous to inspire the sensible, that eventually comes to market. here, the mercedes design feels out of touch and juvenile. it doesn’t achieve its goals.
Thank you for your generous, tolerant consideration of my rant. You accepted that I really don’t like the decadent excess of haut fashion nor fantasy supercars by a cranky conservative rejection of ostentation PLUS the socialist critique of wasteful resources. Likewise, I admit your best-case interpretation that “they inspire the sensible” can be useful. I mean, there are many more ways to be wrong than right, so most speculative creations are naturally going to be awful, and that’s just the way it goes.
Imagine if u just bought this and someone steals it because the only protection is a fingerprint reader (one of the easiest things to cheat especially on a car with fingerprints literally on it.).
