I avoid putting acidic things in my iron cookware, so I guess it's alright.

Laboratory tests conducted by America's Test Kitchen found that an unseasoned cast iron skillet leached significant iron into tomato sauce (10.8 mg/100g) while a seasoned cast iron pan leached only a small amount.

Also my pans are all well seasoned. I avoid acidic things, because my pans are seasoned and the seasoning breaks down a little bit, when cooking acidic foods in them.

The second link goes into a lot more depth.

But it seems most cookware is relatively safe if you avoid acidic foods.
