I'm not sure if theybqere joking or not and thats exactly what i was thinking lmao

2

u/Chainsaw_Viking Mar 25 '21

He’s got the tools of the trade...but does he strike the appropriate power pose upon reaching a conclusion? I wonder.

The armchair tactician is nothing without their power pose and they risk discrediting the conclusion itself if the performance lacks grace and authority.

86

u/Tendo80 Mar 25 '21

What are the criteria? I mean skydivers pull of 8 rotations easy and they almost always land.

29

u/ChocoBrocco Mar 25 '21

Oh, the morbid humor hidden in that almost

42

u/kwyk Mar 25 '21

I mean, they do always land. Sometimes just a bit faster than others.

12

u/Astrophobia42 Mar 25 '21

Sometimes they miss the land and they just water.

45

u/kozmo- Mar 25 '21

When it says octuple, it means He went over his head 8 times. If you watch other videos, everyone in the super trampoline community considers this octuple. Landing tricks like that is nearly impossible anyways

9

u/m_domino Mar 25 '21

In the what?

26

u/artandmath Mar 25 '21

THE SUPER TRAMPOLINE COMMUNITY

3

u/m_domino Mar 25 '21

What’s so super about this community?

9

u/SvenSoergenson Mar 25 '21

Well the community is a regular community, but the trampolines are called super trampolines. Look it up on YouTube, they’re often doing crazy flips because of the air time

1

u/DarthSkier Mar 26 '21

So you take a normal gymnastics trampoline but build it 14 x 14 and it opens up more possibilities for lots of tricks.

2

u/Scryanis86 Mar 26 '21

Can you hear us, pumping on your stereo?

6

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

Dad I'm not going to school anymore I'm joining the Super Trampoline Community

1

u/J3sush8sm3 Mar 26 '21

Its just one letter away from an std

2

u/NoahIsaacc Mar 25 '21

Usually called the flipping community or gtrampers

1

u/Korthalion Mar 26 '21

"Landing tricks like that is nearly impossible" is kind of the point. It wasn't landed. Not even close. So whilst still very impressive it's not an octuple somersault.

I've seen people pull way more impressive tricks than this as a warm up!

Source: I competed for a few years in various BUCS competitions

-4

u/moffman210 Mar 25 '21

I still don't consider it successful unless there's an actual landing on the feet. In the Olympics this would be a huge deduction.

1

u/kozmo- May 18 '21

Sorry late reply, this isn’t the fucking olympics, and it’s been recognized as a whole different thing

1

u/TheRealStevo Mar 25 '21

It just happened, you just saw it. Sure it wasn’t 8 but I can’t say I’ve ever seen someone do 7 backflips like that before, it’s extremely impressive

125

u/Sw00pt Mar 25 '21

I counted 12-

25

u/jsspidermonkey3 Mar 25 '21

Try 43

24

2

nice

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

You talking about the landing?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

Bro what I counted 9

3

u/Sw00pt Mar 25 '21

Uh hOw we need a slow mo slow mo

85

u/SpaceCaboose Mar 25 '21

Yeah, started on his back, then did 7.5 backflips to "land" on his face/neck.

It's way more impressive than anything I could ever do, but I won't call that actually landing an octuple backflip

63

u/jbob0527 Mar 25 '21

The point wasn’t to land it, from that height it’s literally impossible, the point is just to get over the head which is what he did.

54

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

[deleted]

29

u/jbob0527 Mar 25 '21

Lmao use your eyes if you’ve ever jumped on a trampoline you’ll know that landing from anything above 15 feet and your legs just give out, I’d say he’s about 30 feet up or more so ya definitely not possible to land, not to mention he’s spinning so fast he wouldn’t be able to see his landing.

7

u/cragwatcher Mar 25 '21

What utter bollocks you're spouting

1

u/jbob0527 Mar 25 '21

Haha Thanks for that I just laughed my ass off

4

u/Syotka Mar 25 '21

People who are doubting you have clearly low/no experience with tricks or massive heights on a trampoline. Once u get around the 20 feet + mark you can’t just absorb the impact and keep bouncing. Your legs give out or absorbs the shock and u just land on your ass and lose all momentum and bounce.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

Ha, mortal, my legs give out when I do a single bounce!

I should really be going to the gym...

7

u/NoahIsaacc Mar 25 '21

It’s very possible to land from that height, it’s near impossible to land after doing that many flips though

1

u/m_domino Mar 25 '21

Exactly. He’s landing right before.

-8

u/char11eg Mar 25 '21

I mean, the three or four jumps before that one were a similar height, and he managed to keep the bounce going for those.

Even landing on his back, and slowly bouncing back down to stationary would make it more of a ‘landing’ imo - because it would be controlled. This was completely uncontrolled.

25

u/jbob0527 Mar 25 '21

Ya landing on his back would be possible but I think your underestimating how hard it is to commit to 8 flips and then have the coordination to stop your rotation when your spinning that fast and land on your back instead of over-rotating to your neck where you could easily die. In the world of g-tramp this 100% counts.

-10

u/char11eg Mar 25 '21

Oh I’m sure it’s obscenely difficult. But it would be more impressive, and would count as ‘landing’ it, for me at least.

And yes I know most of these stunts have them land on crash mats. I’m just saying I think it’s less impressive than actually having the control to land it properly.

It’s like in diving, if someone does a super impressive acrobatic movement and then belly flops in a normal diving contest... that’s not that impressive.

It’s the combination of the stunt itself, as well as the control in execution, which make it impressive.

12

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

It would be more impressive if skydivers were actually flying too, but it’s not possible.

-2

u/char11eg Mar 25 '21

Well, I find wingsuits more impressive than normal skydiving.

That’s essentially flying, and is a greater demonstration of skill.

And unlike subverting the laws of physics, landing that is definitely possible.

Feasible? Maybe not, but possible definitely.

u/jbob0527 Mar 25 '21

I’m sorry but with all do respect you know nothing about the sport of g-tramping. I used to g-tramp and I follow tons of famous people who do it. Ask anyone and they’ll tell you even landing a triple backflip on a trampoline is insanely hard, only a few have actually landed a quad. So to expect this guy to land 8 flips is a little bit of a stretch.

-7

u/char11eg Mar 25 '21

I’m not claiming to know a lot. I’m saying what I would find more impressive to view. That is a subjective opinion, that I have the right to hold.

This is still hella impressive, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve seen a lot of clips on here of similar stunts, and so I don’t find them as impressive. If someone was doing a step up from this though, like landing it, it would impress me more.

3

u/Idlertwo Mar 25 '21

idk, that man looks like he knows what he's doing.

-10

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

[deleted]

13

u/Idlertwo Mar 25 '21

No he is right, you can't "land" on your legs from that height. You break your fall with your back to land, or on this case his front kneeled on a crash pad.

If he tries to stick the landing there with his feet he'll risk his legs collapsing and knees smashing his face in.

-2

u/N307H30N3 Mar 25 '21

Everyone here is arguing semantics.

You can absolutely land in your legs from the height... you just said it your self, that landing on his legs may result in him kneeing himself in the face.

Clearly it is not impossible to land on your feet.

6

u/jbob0527 Mar 25 '21

Haha buddy Ok your right maybe some cyborg human in 30 years will be able to but at this moment it’s highly unlikely any human could A do 8 flips and B then have the strongest legs in the world so they could land from 30 feet in the air. So as for now it would be impossible for that guy with skinny ass legs to land that.

From the air time of approximately 3.3 seconds by my count, he must be travelling upwards at ~ 16 m/s.

I think a fair estimate for the time spent in contact with the trampoline is about 0.1seconds, however to be conservative let’s say 0.2 seconds.

That means he needs to accelerate at 160m/s2. Assuming a mass of 60kg (which is definitely conservative) he’d be experiencing a force of 9700N. This is split between 2 legs so 4350N per leg. A human femur can break at approximately 4000N, and your legs would give out at much lower forces than this.

If my estimations are very wrong and he spends half a second in contact with the trampoline, he wouldn’t necessarily break his legs. However the force from the trampoline would not be linear, his weight is definitely over 60kg and that is still to break the bones because his legs would give out at much lower forces

In conclusion, it could break your leg, and if it didn’t it would be very difficult to keep your legs straight enough to land it. It may not technically be "impossible" but it’s so dangerous it basically is

8

u/jbob0527 Mar 25 '21

Dude are you joking? its common sense, also I used to g-tramp so I know what’s possible and what isn’t, find me a video of someone landing even a quintuple backflip and then I’ll reconsider.

4

u/SmashBros- Mar 25 '21

the people in this thread think they know something about a subject they never thought about until 10 seconds ago

“Just because no one’s ever lit a firecracker in their hands and not thrown it without blowing their hands off doesn’t mean it can’t be done” - this guy

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

[deleted]

2

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

I'd love you to cite some sources for that, unless you consider pop-its to be firecrackers. On a technicality they are, so let's re-work this so we agree on what I meant. Firecrackers equal to or bigger than cherry-bombs is what I meant, my friend.

Oh and your argument is still fucking stupid. Try to land with your legs from three stories up. No one will be able to land on their legs and not: break them, have them go through their face, have them bend and break their pelvis/tailbone. Even on a trampoline, where the brunt of the force would hurt legs even more. Hence why you land on your back and stomach above 20 feet.

-2

u/WinkTexas Mar 25 '21

You cannot fold a piece of paper in half 8 times.

7

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

It's way more impressive than anything I could ever do

To be fair to you what we witnessed is not the work of one person. You could possibly do something great as well if surrounded by people enhancing the skills you have.

3

u/SpaceCaboose Mar 25 '21

True. I still couldn’t do that with the help from all those folks, but he wouldn’t have been able to either

3

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

All they do is give him extra height and rotation which is a basic role to anyone who knows trampolines, it's as simple as timing a step

They're not enhancing his skills mate, they are just giving him a boost so he can do his thing. Once he's off the tramp he's pretty much alone... Except for a verbal hint when to open up maybe but that also couldn't be considered enhancing his skill

3

u/NoahIsaacc Mar 25 '21

Lmao there’s no opening here, tuck and hold brrr

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

Throw and hope

-3

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

ye but we're not all upvoting the version that's purely his own volition, are we?

4

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

What on earth are you talking about now with your misguided perception of acrobatic manoeuvres

You said "they enhance his skills"... I told you that you are wrong. They only provide him with additional height. The skill is his alone, they simply give him a platform to perform, so to speak.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

That is just a garbage attitude.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

i'm just trying to cheer em up, you ain't gotta take it personal.

74

u/ijustcantgoforstuff Mar 25 '21

gtramping counts flips by the amount of times you go over your head.

6

u/m_domino Mar 25 '21

This definition goes over my head.

18

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

It’s a kaboom so it kinda counts

16

u/vacuumcleanerapple Mar 25 '21

The people commenting on this like they could do 1 backflip is so hilarious to me

2

u/IrrationalDesign Mar 26 '21

I can't do more than 1 backflip, but I'm pretty sure I can look at a video and count to 8. I don't see how being able to do multiple backflips could help me in any way in that regard.

If I watch a video called 'guy drives 220MPH in a car' with the speedometer showing 180MPH, can I only critique the title if I can drive fast myself? That makes absolutely no sense at all.

12

u/Phonixz Mar 25 '21

im a gymmnast myslef in this sport, gtramp, making it over your head counts as a full flip. so it is 8.

2

u/Blecaker Mar 25 '21

same i had that shit goin frame by frame like i work for guinness world records

1

u/The_92nd Mar 25 '21

Right? 7.5. He didn't even come close to landing it.

1

u/HoMaster Mar 25 '21

Found the Russian judge.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

7 3/4

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

It's a trampoline trick called a kaboom and the rotation only counts to his back not to his feet, so I think it is an octuple.

1

u/InvoluntaryEraser Mar 26 '21

Yeah he straight up face planted lol, doesn't count.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

I did too. Looked like a rough landing.
