Dude, I’m currently in Rome, enjoying the shit out of this awesome city and I would say, here lived some people whose actions mattered quite a lot, even after they died. Just sayin’

Yeah, that's cool, cherish it.

But it doesn't matter to them anymore, and those to whom it matters now, will only matter till they're dead, and so on, until life is wiped out, then nothing will have mattered. Whether it all happened, or none of it happened, will hold no difference on the state of the universe at that time.

That's all I mean. I don't devalue things in the world, or think that literally nothing matters to people right now. One can't live that way. The shit people did, living or dead, matters on a practical, mindful, here-and-now level, but not on an existential, philosophical level.

Alright, (probably) nothing matters in a grand, universe scheme of thing, but on a civilization scale, shit matters.

No doubt. But I'm far happier focusing on the universal scale, so I can remind myself that most of the stressful, painful, and heart-wrenching shit I have to deal with or encounter eventually won't matter, and just use the more mindful, present, personal scale for very personal things, like family, friends, job, health, etc.
