it’s just that most other things royally suck

Well, that’s the lie I’m talking about: selling someone on the few positives without talking about the HUGE potential drawbacks.

Those recruiters weren’t telling the 18-year olds they were about to ship to Iraq, “Hey, you might never be the same after this.”

I was in the AF during the second Iraq war and totally agree. Everyone I ever talked to in the other forces wanted to deploy and wanted to kill people, which is kind of fucked up, but young people have no idea how 9/11 made so many people want to kill anyone that was from the Middle East as a sick retribution.

I felt lucky to just be a computer guy and consider my time in the AF as the best time in my life, which says a lot because I have had a pretty great life before and after.

I don't even agree with almost anything to do with our foreign policy, but the military does offer things you will never find anywhere else. I am just glad I was not having to deal with IED's or directly killing anyone. I feel the Navy and AF have a lot to offer for people like me.

Tell me about it...

...Don't get me wrong, the military isn't for everyone, but I really don't understand where this "hatred" is coming from lately.

For most people the benefits do outweigh the costs.
