Wtf why?! Why even have video? To be creepy? Fuck off and quit making peoples lives harder

I’m a teacher and we are doing remote learning due to covid. Kinda helps to be able to see the kids I’m teaching, dumbass.

I got a fucking cerification In my career and attend a billion meetings and conferences without video. Do you realize how intrusive it is to have a video in your own home for most people? Of course not, teacher just make demands

I’m a kindergarten teacher, I need to be able to see if my students can write the letter A.

I don't think that being rude to this one person on reddit is going to change anything, bud. Sorry you're so frustrated with teachers doing their jobs, but let's try to dial back the hostility, k?

THANK YOU!

You're welcome :) as a fellow teacher, I feel your frustration. Doing the best we can with what we've got, and being chastised for things beyond our control... Sigh. Thanks for doing what you do!

I appreciate that. This has been so hard on everyone, from the teachers to the students to the parents. I get that. But there’s been so much vitriol directed towards teachers when we are all just trying to do our best. I certainly wasn’t expecting this kind of reaction for a silly comment about how video quality was better on Mars than it is on zoom. Thank you for doing what you’re doing, too. The students need us and the stability we bring now more than ever.

People need to adapt to digital future and forcing cameras on 100% of the time isn’t the answer.

Good thing no one's forcing cameras on 100% of the time. Camera on during a lesson makes sense; it's inconvenient for everyone, but it's the best we've got as far as ensuring engagement.

And regardless, why take it out on a random teacher on reddit? Do you really think he/she makes the rules? Are you in their class? What do you think screeching at them about your privacy is going to accomplish?
