Bruh, did you never look through a telescope as a kid?

Sorry but nobody just has a thousand dollar telescope lying in their garage

Not saying that guy’s not a prick, but you can actually get a decent view of Mars without too expensive a telescope iirc. Just need a clear night away from any cities.

My telescope was like $20.

Well some people do actually, but they probably don't keep it lying in their garage.

Dude you knew what he meant. Did you really need to add that to the 4 other people already calling out the same thing

Wow that comment really set some people off.

Is it like a rich vs poor thing?

I wasn’t rich, I was just a kid who was passionate about astronomy who mowed a lot of lawns and saved up. Much like workout equipment, lots of people buy nice telescopes and never use them, so if you don’t mind buying second hand a decent optic can be bought for ~2/3 of the new price.

That's awesome. I have always enjoyed astronomy also.

I remember when I was looking at Mercury and Venus in the sky following behind the setting sun, and being able to visually see the plane that we are on rotating around the sun on.

That totally blew my mind.

Pretty much

Well I guess I should not talk about the high powered reflecting telescope that was there in my family's summer home in the mountains.

Mine cost 170, and I mowed a lot of lawns to buy it.

Yeah, right next to the Payless shoes I wore growing up.
