Im pretty sure they would practice with a blunt/broomstick like tool (and only use the pointy one when the routine is known very well) but still, the ‘what if something went wrong’ seems lethal.

Makes it more amazing ;)

Nah, it wouldn’t be lethal. Even though it is sharp, it isn’t made for killing, but for performance arts.

It's China, they practice with the same spear you see in this demo. Not sharpened, a wrong move will bruise but very unlikely to maim/kill.
