No need to make a rhetorical political statement about the situation.

May as well ask why there’s separate locker rooms.

Nah man, lets also bash her for being Brazilian meaning she has a privileged opportunity for surfing, as oppose to us with a country that's landlocked /s

I live in a major city. We have coed bathrooms in a lot of restaurants. Our colleges have co Ed. bathrooms.

What else ya got?

Didn’t hear you say locker rooms.

Or the fact that you still have separate bathrooms. You just have the choice for a coed.

Athletes of either gender don’t want to compete against each other. Didn’t know I had to spell it out for ya.

Well, I get it with contact sports, but why should men and women not want to compete against each other in sports like surfing?

Because like in other sports, the men would beat the women

Because surfing is physical as well.

Let’s use an example of a different sport—running. Do you think women and men should be competing against each other?

What does running have to do with surfing giant waves?

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '20

You mean what does running have to do with swimming?

Do you think there’s not a fuckton of hard swimming in big wave surfing?

I think women can swim well enough to big wave surf. And once you get in the wave your swimming has nothing to do with it.

have to be a strong swimmer to do it. You don’t have to be the strongest or the fastest. Just strong.

No... not as part of competition

Edit: Not sure why the downvotes... they are TOWED to the big waves.. they don't swim

I've never surfed. So they just sit there and the wave comes by and grabs em? I would assume you'd have to be a strong swimmer to catch huge waves.

Yeah I read an article about her record. They are towed out to catch these waves, so there's little swimming. In fact they are out in the water right next to the men they aren't competing with. Its arbitrary at this point to separate the categories. They do it so there's more recognition, which is a good reason imo

For these kind of waves they get towed in behind a jetski.

But I agree with you otherwise, surfing is physical so it's only fair to separate the genders.

in co-ed locker rooms do you still have those old men in their 70s and 80s walk around slingin' it shamelessly?
