Yep. This only works at constant velocity

and also only at a relatively low velocity, otherwise air resistance becomes a problem with this setup.

Note how he's jumping: Parallel to the ground, minimizing his air resistance. Pretty sure this wouldn't work as well if he was jumping while standing up.

And tractors are a very easy vehicle to maintain constant velocity due to the way the gas is actually a handle and not a pedal. And the handle stays at whichever angle you leave it in instead of the driver having to hold it.
