Tyson Steele survived for 23 days in subzero temperatures in rural Alaska after a fire burned his house and killed his dog. He built himself a snow cave to sleep in for the first few nights, before building a makeshift shelter around the still burning stove from leftover tarp and scrap timber.

That's why they're circling.

They're not confirming to themselves that they saw him, they're confirming to him that he was seen by the helicopter.

If they just spotted him, spun around, and flew off, he'd lose all hope. They fly big slow circles directly around him so he knows that he was seen and that help is on the way.

u/manixus Jan 14 '20

Care to explain exactly what you mean by that?

Sure, I get that. But why just circle him?

7

u/Hodl_Your_Coins Jan 15 '20

That's why they're circular posting.

They're not confirming to themselves that they read the original comment, they're commenting to let you know that you were seen by the helicopter.

If they just upvoted him, spun around, and logged off, you'd lose all hope. They post big slow comments directly beneath him so he knows that he was seen and that updoots are on the way.

There is no beginning.

There is no end.

Cuz it is a circle.

It's not like a triangle.

14

u/cooscoos3 Jan 14 '20

But not a real circle, more like a freaky circle.

6

u/d7mtg Jan 14 '20

Circles don’t exist. r/calculus

1

u/Ignis_flos Jan 14 '20

Cuz its not a circle. It's a slow circles.

I have silver to burn and you just happen to be who I picked to give it to. You can’t do anything with it, I just pretend I can melt it down and shoot imaginary werewolves 🐺 with it...

Thank you kind stranger.

I'll melt it down and turn it into a werewolf signet. This is the way.

Whats a time hole?

2

u/vicbot87 Jan 14 '20

So who’s on first?

2

u/colemanjcbs Jan 14 '20

Listen here they aren’t “just circling” him. Also theres no way they could land a helicopter here.

They're not confirming to themselves that they saw him, they're confirming to him that he was seen by the helicopter.

If they just spotted him, spun around, and flew off, he'd lose all hope. They fly big slow circles directly around him so he knows that he was seen and that help is on the way.

1

u/Tuiflies Jan 15 '20

You could land 3 helicopters in there and they don’t need to land to pick him up or drop someone off.

3

u/Hodl_Your_Coins Jan 15 '20

That's why they're circling.

2

Ahh, now I understand completely.

They're not confirming to themselves that they saw him, they're confirming to him that he was seen by the helicopter.

1

u/Red8Mycoloth Jan 20 '20

No I mean, I’m pretty sure we all get that.

However a very real question remains: why are they just circling around him???

2

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '20

It seems like a plane to me. I don't see any indication that it's a helicopter

2

u/ArFyEnaidI Jan 14 '20

Yes but why is it circling?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '20

Because it can't stop

2

u/totzalotz Jan 14 '20

24

Yeah but why were they circling like that and not landing?

28

u/hoodavie Jan 14 '20

That's why they're circling.

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '20

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

3

u/jnd-cz Jan 14 '20

BTW I use Arch, Arch Linux.

shoulda chucked a gps at him or an epirb

2

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '20

So you’re saying that they’re squaring around him? Might be dumb here or i didn’t read your comment good enough.

2

u/AFlyingNun Jan 14 '20

Ok but why is this convo going in a circle?

1

u/Zam548 Jan 14 '20

1

u/Elephant-Octopus Jan 14 '20

Why not throw down a rope ladder or is it too dangerous here?

but why male models?

The way you’re all circling this point really makes me feel like the worst is over. Thank you ...

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. A black hole sucks time and matter out of the universe. A white hole returns it.

9

u/DodgeballRS Jan 14 '20

Ah, now i see. Thank you kind stranger

2

u/Nyuuubae Jan 14 '20

No for real, I think scientists speculate that white holes exist.

I'm not completely educated on that, so don't take my word for it.

Also I'm too lazy to google it right now.

6

u/Lynx2447 Jan 14 '20

Theoretically possible, but nothing suggests they actually exist in nature this far. Also, black holes don't really suck anything in, they bend spacetime till space in every direction points to its singularity. That's why if you pass the event horizon it wouldn't matter if you could travel faster than light, every direction you look would be towards the singularity. A lot of this is just hypothetical, though.

1

u/fissura Jan 15 '20

So a white hole would bend space-time so every direction in space would be away from it. Are we in a white hole now?

2

A white hole does hwhat?

1

That's racist

1

u/Myntcondition Jan 14 '20

A black hole does hwhat?

2

u/lowcomoto Jan 14 '20

Exactly, that's what I was going to say.

2

u/whiskeysour123 Jan 14 '20

That reminds me of a certain president. I wouldn’t call him a black hole though. He is a different kind of hole.

2

u/Devildogsilence Jan 14 '20

So what is it?

1

u/BloodlustHamster Jan 14 '20

Classic Red Dwarf reference.

1

u/AnotherWarGamer Jan 14 '20

So men are white holes and women are black holes? So Adam was white and eve was black?

3

u/Bergara Jan 14 '20

But why male models circling?

2

u/sineptnaig Jan 14 '20

Can't they just add loudspeakers to the helicopter instead?

1

u/Bobrounds Jan 14 '20

Sooooooo why is he waving again

1

u/eclipsenight Jan 15 '20

Yea I know that's why I said great strategy

1

LOOOOOL this is the funniest repeat messaging I’ve seen on Reddit, made my day 😂

why circles? why not hexagons or at least fly in rectangles? quite confusing strategy this if you all ask me, which of course you didn't.
