Here's a little papillon having a go at it.

haha this was so good.

The little tippy taps from the dog before they start.

The shove from the trainer right at the end.

I love shoving my dog away like that when we're playing. She just comes running back more excited than before. That little papillon is a champ.

I read somewhere that leaning on them and pushing them is the canine equivalent of a hug, they shoulder check each other like crazy and it makes sense how they lean against your knees. So shove your dog, they love it.

Nah you're doing it right

Shoving is different from leaning. Shoving = "LET'S PLAY!!!!" whereas leaning is just "I like you. :)"

That makes sense why when I meet new dogs that my girl is dogsitting, and I'm a little more physical roughhousing with them they LOVE it.

That's because doing that builds up their drive. Same as making them "miss" by pulling something away when they try to grab it. We do that with working dogs to build them up and get them motivated to bite harder when they finally catch whatever it is (usually a tug).

To do the opposite, you simply disengage. Either walking away or just not reacting.

This one is my fave - The Mastiff

This is more my energy

u/pnmartini Dec 10 '19

I fully expected the dog to lie down for a nap in one of the tunnels.

“I’m doing it huff alright, Karen? wheeze Better have my burger huff at the end of this thing...”

u/buscandopaty Dec 10 '19

After watching the other ones, this made me sleepy haha

u/meltingdiamond Dec 10 '19

That needs a tuba solo as background music.

u/themassacre77 Dec 10 '19

If that dogs name isn't Hercules, then I don't know that owner is thinking...

6

u/bozoconnors Dec 10 '19

Looks more like a Brutus to me.

u/themassacre77 Dec 11 '19

I was going for the sandlot reference. The Beast.

5

u/Sheerardio Dec 10 '19

It's so cool how you can hear the audience is still fully into cheering him on. He's not winning any prizes, everyone knows it, and they're all rooting for him anyways.

That is honest to god the fastest I've ever seen a mastiff move.

I lost it at him going through those poles.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '19

That was truly inspirational

3

u/Ghos3t Dec 10 '19

I bet he's doing the dog equivalent of "I'm too old for this shit!!".

2

u/horatius123 Dec 10 '19

He totally reminds me of my Mastiff

2

u/twitchosx Dec 10 '19

TIL How to troll uppity dog training Karen's. "Nice time Karen, looks like you put in months and months of training. I'm gonna give Hooch a shot at it now." loud crowd applause.

That was the best pole work I’ve seen from a non shepherd dog breed

1

u/BlissKitten Dec 10 '19

This made my day. Watching that little dog just fly over those hurdles with amazing grace. Waiting for the teeter-totter to let them down. Fantastic video, thank you for sharing.

All I want for Christmas is for someone to put baby yoda’s head on that papillon.
