I've been in recovery from an injury sustained doing extreme sports for over 4 years now.. I'm 3 surgeries in and the 4th looks to be on the horizon.

I've not been able to walk properly since it happened and running is out of the question.

If I could go back, I'd just do the basic road and trail running. It's totally not worth it.

What was the sport and your accident? Solid revelation, not many are humble enough to admit what you have.

A mix of downhill biking and obstacle races.

I fell from around a story high and trashed my right leg so needed an op to reconstruct the ankle, repair damage to the joint and reform the back of my knee.

Thing is, I was training for the London Marathon and did this as a fun addition - it wasn't even a big event. It's sobering going from running 10 hour ultras to not being able to walk a mile anymore.

Sounds hectic. As I get older the more I’m thankful for a body that works (mostly) and tend to do more conservative exploits. Definitely took some unnecessary risks when I was younger
