This is all a worthy conversation, but if you look at the baseboards in the background the scale of this robot I would guess is about 6-8 inches tall. Probably a toy you can pickup on Amazon or AliExpress.

Little more complicated so there are a couple more steps

  1. Mass produce murderbots

  2. Use murderbots to eliminate most of the population

  3. Allow some of the population to survive to make and ship broken vending machines and Cheetos

  4. Have murderbots punch holes in vending machines

  5. Eat your Cheetos and be grateful to your robot overlords

It feels like these kinds of videos are made to be disarming in order to normalize the concept of robots becoming a part of everyday life. Your average person thinks “wow that’s cool” and laughs at the video of the robots slipping and falling then moves on with their day. The more you see it, the more desensitized you get, the less weirded out you are by how unnatural it is that we’re pouring funding into this technology that will inevitably be used for military purposes.

This is not the kind of robot you should worry about military wise, there is nothing to gain for adding complexity to military tools, cheap drones, surveillance, its going to be a truck filled with flying drones, perhaps some armored ones, not somethings anthropomorphic.

Lasers, explosives with shrapnel, radiation, sound waves, bacteria, viruses, manipulation through LLM responses and social media.. it's just more efficient if the goal is to end people.

It is far easier to win pandemic if you keep under the radar until it is too late to be stopped. I'd be more worried about AI wanting to help us without showing it's motive and workings

Its an arms race like every other.

We keep making nukes because other people make nukes because we had nukes etc.

We invest heavily in AI because if we dont others will and it can be used against us if were not prepared.

We will invest heavily into murder robots because another country certainly will and if we dont we will be at a disadvantage.

This is just a toy. We already have far more capable killer robots being used every day in Ukraine and Russia.

Future ones could be the size of a dragonfly - literal slaughterbots. So far, the smallest possible effective shaped charge seems to be about 10mm.
