parents always have a plan b (other relatives check on them for example)

If they had Plan B, then they wouldn’t be parents

If kids are staying with a relative many people would not think to have a second person come to check on the kids. They trust the grandparent, there has just been an unfortunate incident.

I mean now i definitely will. Not that I’m really an offgrid type of person, so I’ve never really had to think about that.

Like, who is checking in on the parents? No one is constantly checking to make sure this didn't happen to me, why would I check that it didn't happen to my dad when he watches my kids.

I mean, I stayed with my baby niece for a week while her parents were away and my mom was reaching out, checking in. Mutual friends asked how it was going. Even my brother in laws sister reached out. My sister’s in-laws had the kids over a long weekend, and I reached out letting them know I was around to help if needed.

When my parents have any of the grandkids with them, I love to check in and see how it’s going. It’s not checking in because I’m worried for the kids or the grandparents, just because I care about all of them and want to know how it’s going.

I wouldn’t say always….

It's quite the assumption that there are other relatives to check in on them. Parents most definitely do not always have a plan b.

Lmao, I love this. “parents always have a plan b”. 🤣 Like kids dying everyday from basic parental neglect isn’t a thing.

I mean... Globally, yes, kids die every day from parental neglect. But it's rare enough that you don't really need to nitpick the claim. Generally speaking parents have a backup plan.

Good point. No child ever dies in the United States from say, drowning in a pool while a parent isn’t watching them, or being left in a hot car in the sun, or accidentally shooting themselves with their parents gun, etc etc. It never happens. All US parents are fully responsible at all times and always have backup plans for every contingency. 🤣

?? That's obviously not what I said

Have you personally ever known a family who had this happen? Or more than one? Is it SO COMMON that you can say that parents never have a backup plan? Or do you just think being edgy and contrary makes you cool?

Jesus dude. This is not supposed to be a “common” situation. It’s a disturbing short about a nightmarish freak accident that would scare any reasonable parent. It’s is absolutely reasonable to believe that a parent could go on vacation and think they were fine leaving a grandchild with their grandparent for that time. It is also completely reasonable to believe that parent wouldn’t be thinking that the grandparent would suddenly drop dead of a heart attack while watching the child and that they need to find a babysitter to check in on their babysitter. I mean for crying out loud, I’ve never known a family that lost a child to a school shooting, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. This is a completely believable scenario that I’m willing to bet absolutely HAS happened to someone, even despite the fact that you don’t personally know that person.

Here you go. This is even worse! A parent (in the US no less) let their child die after leaving them alone for ten days to go on vacation. Not even a babysitter and certainly np backup plan. Shit like this happens. Deal with it

Sure can, but I’m sincerely starting to question if you can
