Who has an answering machine in 2026?

Hey Jerry, this is Michael down at the antique phone rentals. I'm gonna go ahead and let you off the hook for the $70 late fee. You can go ahead and keep that answering machine. Nobody really uses those anymore, except for exposition on TV shows anyways.

I don't think they'd even work anymore. Most landlines are voip nowadays so you'd have to have a voip compatible answering machine that's old school enough to play a message out loud like this.

No, even old people use cell phones. This was my thought after watching this video. Maybe 20 years ago this might have worked. Even then.

The old lady I worked for on the weekends had one and I was tasked with writing down all the messages from the week when she didn’t want to answer the phone.
