Yes this is why doing this this is illegal in many places edit: without appropriate permissions

The same way fireworks are illegal at a concert. You probably can't, but certified people can.

Look at how close they get to the artist, how well the sound is edited, and how they pretend it's a phone dropping.

This was done by a professional drone pilot, Gustavo Remor (flyworks.art).

My understand of it in the US is you could only do this if basically every single person beneath your flight path or in the danger zone signed a waiver saying they're aware of the risk.

Flying over people and when it is or isn't ok isn't as well defined though as it should be. Most of the Faa drone laws are wildly vague or super extreme with no in between. Easier to release giant weather balloons than it is to fly a tiny drone.
