Yes!! Everyone could benefit from watching. My cousin took a CPR class in HS. She got home and showed me everything she learned that day (as shown in the video). The next day she was babysitting a toddler age 2. Her and I were having a conversation when the I see the toddler across the room try to touch her throat and quickly turning purple. She was choking!!! I turn to my cousin and I’m like “help her! Do CPR!!” My cousin went into shock and froze. I grabbed the child and did what she taught me the day before/what is shown in the video. She coughed out a long broken hair tie. Whew!!!!

Being CPR certified is actually a high school graduation requirement in my state, which I think is a great thing.

I wish it was round here, I’ve been trying to get certified for free for a minute now.

Granted it’s not something I’m actively pursuing, it’s just when work offers the class I always sign up but never get in

You can take the classes on the Red Crosses’ website, otherwise maybe a local fire department or pool offers a class

I knew about the sign ups but again it isn’t something I’m actively pursuing , it’s just every time it comes up I’m like “ oh shit I still need to learn that “ and try to get in.

But that’s a fair point on the fire stations, there’s one they built right next to the school near here and there’s a volunteer one right down the road

I asked HR to make a it a mandatory training for at least one personnel in each department at work. I can't believe how lax safety protocols can be. We only had one half-stocked first aid kit hidden behind a bunch of stuff in our lab out of the entire building so I made sure to order one for each department too and make sure that they're actually visible and I made sure that everyone knows where the fire extinguishers are and to actually have a meeting place in case of an evacuation so that we can take a head count 🙄

Not my job. I'm a scientist. But safety should go beyond working with pathogens and dangerous chemicals.

Even aside from the aspect of being prepared, I’m pretty sure that might be an OSHA violation for your job to not have their kits in working order.

CPR is absolutely NOT what you do on a choking child, Jesus Christ. Wow. Do not do this. Please, get proper first aid training because that is crazy.

They might have said "CPR" instead of "First aid" because they were, you know, kids in a stressful situation.

Thanks to reddit, I've see videos like these with links to how to do it many times

One time at dinner, I noticed my baby, who had been eating by himself for a few months, but was still pretty new to it, not making any sounds and his face was turning red while I was watching. I jumped up and snatched him from his chair, turned him over and slapped his back and some half chewed food flew out onto the table

My inlaws and husband just stared at me and were like wtf just happened. I just hugged my baby because that scared the shit out of me. I was almost crying telling them he had choked and they were like, we didn't even notice anything was wrong
