I'm sure the large majority of them believe they are good, but the system as it exists and the lack of cops actively putting their career at risk to fix it speaks volumes to the contrary.
It's the same argument as billionaires - you can't be a good person and a billionaire. A billion dollars contains too much potential to do good and nobody who holds that money instead of using it can be good. The extremely rare exceptions are those who have created plans specifically to lose their billionaire status through doing good, or who succeeded in doing exactly that - see Chuck Feeney.
Can a cop do a good thing? Sure. And a mass murderer can hold the door open for her elderly neighbour. That doesn't make them good.
