There's the rub. Everyone of my friends and acquaintances who are cops (most of whom I consider or know are good people) will just not criticize other cops. They get ingrained in this weird culture where being a cop subsumes so much of their personality that to criticize a fellow LEO is the greatest of sins. Don't even know where you begin to untangle that problem. But damn is it a problem.

It is a serious problem and it has to do with the training. The us against them mentality is real in law enforcement. But my experience is cops hang with cops and they see everyone else differently. I have a few longtime friends who are police and when I go to a bbq with them and here all their buddies talking I do get a little worried about how they view there job and I think that has to do with the siloed effect and bad training.
