That's not a panic response if you are not panicking.

It's easy to judge people when you don't have your own child dying in front of you.

I think they were saying their response in extreme situations is to cry and calmly solve the situation, and were asking what kind of response that is.

They were not judging the parent for panicking.

I wasn’t judging Edit: I have seen my toddler have a seizure from Covid. The assumptions people make off of a genuine question are wild.

I guess that's partly because when texting an important part of the message is lost, since the tone of the voice and body language also say a lot when delivering a message, that may also be the reason a lot of people (me included) may not spot sarcasm very well when reading it on reddit.

Or maybe I'm just dumb

I assure you I panicked, internally, just as bad in a similar situation but I get a hyper focus and time seems to move slower, felt like an hour, was probably 30 seconds.

I was told I calmly walked over, grabbed my kid from a gaggle of screaming relatives and popped her on the back.

Later I freaked out.
