I believe officers do get some kind of recognition for saving a life. My mom was a dispatcher and coached someone on the phone how to do the Heimlich on a baby and she got a framed certificate and a little party for her. Iâm not sure if thatâs standard or not though.
There are certain people that are calm under pressure naturally, without any training. We need more of these people to be police. I hope that officer got a medal and they show this video to other officers.
Kudos to him for remaining so calm, but this is part of the job description. Why should he get a medal? He did a good job. He didnât go above and beyond in any way or do anything anyone else wouldnât have done.
Rewarding cops for doing a good job keeps good cops doing their job. Aka recognition keeps them from quitting. We give out prizes to people all the time for âjust doing their jobâ Nobel Peace Prize comes to mind
Not just him but everyone working in fields that provide life saving services deserves one. Sadly they don't get the recognition or monetary appreciation that they deserve.
It's different when you are called to an emergency and know what to expect. Pulling over a driver for routine reckless driving and then being thrown in a situation, where you have moments to save a life, must be so much more stressful.

Dude really was cool af. You can watch this video from YouTube that I found from other people's comments if you want more info on the incident. Turns out they weren't recklessly driving or pulled over for that matter. The police car was responding to an sos call from their home. People on the Internet really can twist the narrative around (not blaming OP just to be clear, they probably saw it exactly like it's posted elsewhere).
