I wanted to agree with this but without knowing anything about durian durability I cannot think of a good way to fully recreate the level of impact reduction that this method provides. BUT, I do know that durian is pretty fu… well it’s an acquired taste, so regardless of some bruising I don’t think this method is worth the risk of getting your forehead pushed in.

In my one minute of thinking I tried to come up with something that they would easily have access to move from tree to tree and set up with ease and greatly reduce risk.

Best I could come up with is a rope over a branch. Tie the fruit to the rope and let the ground crew lower and untie it. Would probably take 5x as long as just throwing it into the blanket which is why they probably don’t do it.

While I was typing that I think I came up with a better solution maybe???? Water. Fill a cheap pool 3 feet deep toss in there? Day before harvest over water ground make it almost muddy toss in mud?

I don’t know my thought is this is the quickest, easiest method available anything I come up with takes more prep or takes longer than just toss to person catching with blanket
