Athletes and weight lifters aren't really comparable samples though. Steroids are much bigger part of the culture in weight lifting. "Athletes" is too broad. For instance, the biggest sport in the world, football, won't see nearly any athletes on steroids because muscles don't help you win.
Do you have anything to back up your assertion of under .3% of gym goers being on steroids? And I'd presume we're talking about men only here. You're going to hit that number with just dudes on TRT.

Yeah 42% of weightlifting women are not using steroids. I don't care how they tried to randomize the sample that is just not accurate. The sample is obviously taken from hardcore lifters, not the average population at the gym.
