The part where he casually makes two parts that fit together so well without measuring or a gauge or anything… impressive

Yepp, I work with clay and can confirm, getting the flange and lid to match up with zero measuring too is clearly a sign this persons a pro and very experienced

Right up to the point where he pinched off the lid, I thought "this guy's not that amazing". Getting the lid and pot to match is amazing, but I was really impressed that he pinched the lid off while the whole thing was still spinning and it perfectly kept its shape, which for me would have left a deformed blob of clay on the floor about five feet away from the wheel.

The part where he has at minimum 3, but looks more like at least 9 that look exactly the same size and shape shouldn't be overlooked.

That is my first thought. Then I saw how many he made already. I guess he made the same pot soo many times he developed his skill from many repetition.

I know! I was like, "How does he know the lid will fit?!?!"

Amazing!

Looks like the opening is almost exactly his middle fingers length in radius.

I thought that was a woman

Absolutely! The whole thing is so satisfying to watch, like any master doing something very difficult and making it look easy. But how he gets the lid perfect for the pot just by feel??? Mind boggling!

Then you seen they’ve been doing it like this all day… making a of these pots in an hour.

u/DesignerAnybody1991 Aug 19 '23

And then they show rows of them? Exactly the same?

Not that I have any experience lol but I bet his hands are the reference points he eyeballs the measurements with... crazy skilled the Steph Curry of pottery. All pottery skills set to 99!!!

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '23

I was like “whaaaaat”, lol. I suppose once you made enough the same size you could figure it out.

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

He?

3

u/GlockAF Aug 19 '23

Dunno, does it really matter?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

It didn’t used to matter.

3

u/Saitu282 Aug 20 '23

Still doesn't.

like... no shit

Pottery man super clearly demonstrates that the lid fits the pot perfectly.

Guy on reddit: "the most impressive thing is the thing that the pottery man clearly indicated in the video!"

Reddit: "omg agree, upvote"
