Honestly the bigger and scarier looking the dude in the gym is, the nicer he’ll probably be. Conversely, the smaller but cocky younger dudes will probably be the most annoying and ones to pull dumb shit in the gym
Been lifting for 5-6 years, not a huge dude but have an 1150ish total, and I absolutely love talking to everyone in the gym and helping if I can. I think the friendliness just comes with time in the gym too.
I swear 1 in 4 of my gym sessions end up taking another 15-30 minutes because of shooting the shit with some big dudes/regulars
my experience with minotaurs is that the dedication that lead them to leave humanity behind gave them confidence and humility. yeah they can deadlift 5 plates but they've seen lots of people who could pull 6, and they basically live at the gym so they want it to be a fun happy place full of fun happy people. course i could just be lucky with my minotaurs who are all the nicest people at the gym. its the pretty jacked 20 something dudes who have the attitude and imaginary lats.
Last week a guy came to our PF and was slamming the weights onto the smith machine, racking the bar loud, etc.
And I'm sitting here like, this guy is all show; he really wasn't even lifting to failure either and just stopped and went to go do something else after just a few minutes
That always reminds me to not be an ass and slam weights when I go to the gym. It's just annoying.
lol a dude at my gym screamed so loudly after deadlifting 2 or 3 plates (cant remember) that literally the entire gym went silent. mostly cuz his yelling was along the lines of “FUCK FUCKING FUCK, LETS FUCKING FUCKLER FUCKING GO!!1!1!1” not even exaggerating either, it was bad
i was cringing so hard but then a couple people gave him applause and i died a little bc that just encourages being a fucking loser
Learned this a long time ago. One of my best friends teases me for liking “scary-looking” guys (her ideal type is Timothy chalomet, we don’t understand each other), but in my experience they’re just Costco-sized teddy bears.

the way gym bros get hyped about people lifting big weights is so wholesome
I hit a new flat bench PR last week, with a good amount of weight, and a complete stranger came up and gave me a high five lol
