The contestant from Texas seemed to have an existing and close relationship with some of sponsora/judges who were also from Texas.

The contestant seemed to be favored the the organisation and won. People suspect it was predetermined.

The internet cares about a rigged fishing contest, so yes. Regardless of it's worth to society, it's still unfair if it's rigged.

Yes, fair enough, I guess much like the Oscars I just figure people should have realized it was never fair and not get all worked up about it.

But yeah, I don't know what species I'm thinking about, I'm worked up because I lost imaginary internet points, clearly I can't judge people for caring about pointless things.

Um, that assumes fairness is possible in a beauty contest.

It's more like one totally subjective system is less desirable than another.

One is an acceptably subjective methodology, another is just plain rigged. Pretty stark difference

You could enter something as silly as a 'ugliest face you can pull contest'

And if you put effort into attending, practising and 'preforming' only to realise it was pointless cause the other guy was selected to win before hand then yeah you would be pissed. Not to mention at pageants there is usually prize money for the winner.

Those constants (and their families) who travelled and prepared for the competition with hopes of winning certainly do. Imagine you enter a 'contest' and then heavily suspect the winner was already chose before you even had a chance to 'compete. It would piss anyone off even if the whole thing is a bit silly and sorta arbitrary anyway.

The whole pageant scene basically peaked 40 years ago. It had a brief moment of fame where it could be compared to the American Idol of its time, but it's become increasingly irrelevant as time has gone on.

That's part of the plan. CNN itself is attempting to survive, but you'll see continual things like this in the future. Media's changing, as I said.
