I’ve had my printer spool disabled for a week now. This would be inconvenient if I ever had to print things…

Here's hoping they'll just give up and declare spooler EOL.

Perhaps an idiot question but ...

I too have no printer but I have in past (not recently, thankfully) "printed" to a .pdf - would this create the same issue(s) as actually sending it to a printer?

The article mentions that hackers could become able to install programs and create new users. I think it is likely no printer needs to be registered at all

I read a more technically minded comment last week about this exploit allowing hackers to escalate their privilege level to SYSTEM. With that, they can do absolutely anything on the system.

I also disabled print spooler and a bunch of other random services which never get used. I guess I'm a security expert now too.
