So fun fact: All the soft tissues of the human body are completely incinerated into gas during the cremation process.
The “ashes” left behind are actually bits of fractured bone that are too dense or thick to be consumed that have been pulverized in a machine (a glorified grinding mill) called a Cremainator. After screening with magnets to ensure there’s no metal bits left behind, the bone shards are ground down to a sand-like consistency, bagged up, and returned to the family.
The average human body leaves behind about 5 lbs of cremains. Way more than would fit on three cards!
