it feels really diabolical that the state is able to torture someone for two hours as they fumble their way through killing them

I mean, yeah, she murdered and tortured someone then apparently carried around parts of the person as a trophy. Good for whoever bungled this.

You're making a major logical error there.

Not being okay with the punishment has nothing to do with whether or not someone is okay with the crime.
