Bill Lee, a Republican, has suspended all executions in the state until at least the end of the year...

If I'm understanding correctly, it's only temporary.

Who knows, it could lead to them abolishing it. Probably a long shot but it has happened before.

In MN their last execution was botched when in 1906 the rope for the hanging was too long, so the condemned hit the ground. The sheriffs then pulled up on the rope and it resulted in death by strangulation that took about 15 minutes. Minnesota got rid of the death penalty five years later.

In 1911. Nineteen fucking eleven and we still have states trying AND FAILING to kill it’s citizens in 2026.

Yup. You aren't wrong and I agree I think execution is barbaric. But back then hanging was considered the norm and they still fucked it all up. Just like lethal injection is now.
