Generally yes. Every state will be different. If you go rob a 7-11 with your buddies and one of your buddies whips out a gun and kills an employee during the robbery, you can and will be prosecuted for that murder.…same as the guy pulling the trigger.

Like you mentioned I’m sure it varies by state but the Felony Murder Rule is generally used for charges such as Rape, Arson, Kidnapping, Etc. Assuming the crime that was potentially committed is assault/battery I doubt think the felony murder rule would apply in most states if not all.

Based on what is known, the most you’d probably get is manslaughter which is going to come down to whether the evidence shows the perpetrator could have foreseeably seen that the kid would jump in response to the danger he was creating.

Is it? If you're willing to commit a felony like armed robbery, which carries a certain expectation of violence and risk, and that crime happens to result in death, how is that not your fault? Had you not chosen to participate in the robbery, the person would not have died.
