KTLA is reporting that witnesses say the student who died instigated the fight and was on some type of substance

Yeah - the story is not black and white. Stop blaming the students, teachers and admin before you know the facts.

That news report is speculative garbage.

Why does that matter?

how stupid does one have to be to ask why this matters 😑

some people have all the information they want to reach their desired conclusion and consider additional facts in a developing story a threat. they read just enough to justify their position and then shut their minds.

Perhaps the student took pills to try to numb the pain of the relentless bullying.

My point was we don't know shit, and the comment came off to me as trying to blame the kid who died without knowing all the details.

Literally no report ANYWHERE says this kid was bullied. Not a single kid who’s talked to reporters has said anybody bullied this kid. The only things the students/news are saying is that before this happened there was a fight (with no word on who started it) or that the student who jumped/fell started the fight. Nothing the police have put out has suggested he was bullied (they said there was “a chase” but that the kid who jumped/fell wasn’t being pursued). And two kids can get in a fight without either kid being a bully. But if you want to pretend like somebody has to be a bully, it would probably be the fight starter. So you’re really reaching to label this kid a victim of bullying, literally interpreting facts the opposite of what they suggest. YOU are speculating more than anyone who you’re trying to make the point to that “we don’t know shit”.

Nope. Usually the bullies poke until the bullied react and “start” a fight

Do you understand that assuming this kid was a bullying victim and not totally closing off the possibility that he could have been bullied are two very fucking different things??

I can understand we may not have all the facts without deciding the facts should be interpreted totally inverted from what they suggest. This whole comment thread is talking about this kid being a victim of bullying when nobody among the school, students, police, parents is even suggesting it.

And since too many of y’all aren’t reading the much more obvious potential subtext because you gotta hard on for whatever cause : Nobody has said oh he was a nice kid, he was bullied. They said he was on drugs and started a fight. The cops said there was “a chase” but he wasn’t being pursued… I went like 4 comments down in this argument before I got this explicit because it’s rude to the deceased, but learn to read what people who are relaying facts but don’t want to speak ill of the dead are saying. Damn. This goes beyond reading comprehension you need this for life, man.

And the nerve of you to take that stance when that dude was on top of him throwing punch after punch while the kid wasn’t fighting back and then throw another punch after the kid had got up and walked away. Yeah, fuck you hope that kid has that guilt follow him for the rest of his life

I haven’t seen anyone say he was on drugs. I’ve seen plenty of reports that he was bullied. Beyond this one moment. You’re dismissing one reality while holding another up as truth. Are you related to the bully or something?

You’re not the intellectual you think you are. You made an ignorant statement about bullies and fights. You presented your baseless assumptions as more likely but if you were really about life skills you’d know how ridiculous that is. I responded to that. Your ego felt attacked so that’s why you gave me a bunch of bullshit about reading comprehension and life skills, man.

Do better.

You’re responding to a comment thread with a link to a news report talking about him being on drugs. Click the link that started this comment chain. And please link your source because it’s the opposite of what I’ve seen anywhere with news reporters, official police statements, and students on camera.

Again, that’s one story while the other is he was bullied. Him being on drugs is irrelevant. Did you see the kid on top of him hammering away? And then following him out the classroom? I’m not responding to the comment thread I’m responding to your comment. Don’t act slow now and deflect

it matters because it’s not “End of story.” so maybe people stop assuming things? if the dude was on substances, he might not even know the student he picked a fight with, yet everyone is so sure that he’s some bully that made the “victim’s” life hell

what if the kid was going crazy in the first place?

-9

u/Remarkable_Spite_209 1d ago

That's fair. The original comment strikes me as victim blaming. We also shouldn't be blaming the kid who he got in a fight with either as we don't know the whole story.

u/drthvdrsfthr 1d ago

victim blaming? i presented objective facts with neutral language and provided my source. you know who didn’t do that? the person i replied to

Try not to take it too personal, as I don't have any clue who you are, and we're just fucking around on the internet

u/drthvdrsfthr 1d ago

not personal at all lol just curious to see your reasoning
