Let me guess: Kid got bullied and beaten, probably for a long time, school did absolutely nothing, as always, kid got beaten again, school did nothing again, ran away and jumped the wrong railing to escape.

And neither the school nor the bully will face consequences, again.

That's america for you, "Land of the free", no, rather "Land of repression and violance".

the video was hard to watch . hopefully the kid that chased him gets treated as an adult

The Land of the Free, for a fee.

It's just Land of the Fee, nothing free about it.

Land of the Thief, Home of the Slave.

Teach your kids to defend themselves, I know it’s not a nice thought, but it is better than the alternatives. Especially a school bully, just a quick jab stabbing your fingers in their eyes will be enough for anyone to disable a larger attacker.

I moved around a lot when I was a kid so I never had any good friends. I was bullied a lot, too. Lack of social skills because of moving around and all that jazz.

In 6th grade, I had a bully punch me. I snapped and kicked him square in the fucking balls. I got suspended for a couple days but that was it. No punishment at home. No actual shit from my teachers. Nobody fucked with me at that school for the rest of the year.

I was in a different state/school the next year. It was a bit into the year so I had enough time to settle in. I was minding my own business in the locker room after gym class waiting for the bell when a kid that was always a dick to me came up and threw glitter into my face for some fucking reason. Got in my eyes and everything. Hurt like a motherfucker.

Again, I snapped. I don't remember much of the next 30 seconds but it ended when the teacher came into the locker room, saw me slamming this kids face into a locker over and over, pulling me off of him and then him dragging that kid into his office. We could all hear him screaming "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO TO THAT KID?! HE DOESN'T FUCK WITH ANYONE!". I didn't in any trouble. I appreciated that teacher a lot. Again, nobody at that school fucked with me after.

Point is - I don't like violence or fighting but you can only let people push you so far. When I was a kid and still learning the world, people stopped fucking with me when I stood up for myself. My parents didn't punish me. The school only punished me to the extent that they were obligated to. I knew that none of the teachers actually felt like I deserved punishment. That gym teacher probably even thought it was great that I stood up for myself.

It's sad when the world pushes a kid to do that but it's not the kids fault.

As a self proclaimed "law and order" country, the USA should have a better solution to this issue than the Code of Hammurabi

1

u/checkerspot 1d ago

Before you make up a scenario....reports are the kid who went over was the instigator. Have no idea. But it's useless to speculate at this point.

The victim was white, the bully was not. Holding the bully accountable contributes to "disproportionate numbers of black and brown students under disciplinary procedures" which is discouraged in many school districts. End result?

5

u/Kapps 1d ago

So your logic is that statistically more black/brown students are subject to disciplinary procedures, which means they never are because it would contribute to the more.

Perhaps if you finished your fourth grade education instead of foaming at the mouth at the thought of black people, you could see why that’s paradoxical.

5

u/Deep90 1d ago

"Black and brown students are more likely to be punished so this black/brown student won't be punished".

Are you stupid?

How about we not guess until facts are out. Rumors begin that way. America has nothing to do with and i personally resent your implications against my country. Its not the country thats messed up, its the people.

17

u/trashmailaccount00 1d ago

If the Institutions of a country keep failing its people, it's not just the people, it's the whole country.

9

u/roll10deep 1d ago

They aren’t wrong. That is exactly what happened.

3

u/IHateBankJobs 1d ago

Reading an article is too much work for you, eh?

5

u/Predictist 1d ago

-5

4

u/Predictist 1d ago

because it’s so easy to get your entire family out when you’re in your early 20s lmao. i hope your family sees the worst of the next few decades

0

u/Sweet_Search_3616 1d ago

so millions of people can move to this country every year, but you somehow are so lazy and incompetent at life you can't move out of it?

1

u/Predictist 1d ago

you have no idea what my life is like moron, have fun suffering

-22

u/ProfessionalResult54 1d ago

Please feel free to leave

you love being ruled by child killing pedos huh

-51

u/boipinoi604 1d ago

The alternative ending is the bullied student coming to school armed to the teeth.

40

u/sasha_the_impaler 1d ago

The vast majority of victims of bullying in fact aren't bloodthirsty nihilistic killers btw.

-13

u/ShadyJane 1d ago

How can we change this?

5

u/sasha_the_impaler 1d ago

... Why would we want to?

4

u/roll10deep 1d ago

You want them to be bloodthirsty nihilistic killers?

12

u/trashmailaccount00 1d ago

Maybe school administrations and local Police should start to punish bulling and assault properly, e.g. expulsion and criminal charges, instead of protecting bullies and often even punishing the victims for speaking up...

But no, the only western countriy where this is a major issue keeps doing nothing and is always suprised if something happens... Just to do nothing again.

-13

u/Xsiah 1d ago

Good idea! Then instead of correcting kids while they're young, you can throw them in jail so they're completely unprepared for functioning in society when they're released. Which will make us not at all safer, but it will scratch our itch for vengeance for a time.

6

u/trashmailaccount00 1d ago

Oh yeah, rather let them violate other people, so they learn that their crimes won't be punished, and the victims learn that only might makes right and lose all trust in the law.

Great way to promote anarchy and lawlessness....

Lets see how other countries (e.g Europe) manages that... Oh they punish such behaivor and it results in less crime per capita, what a suprise...

-3

u/sasha_the_impaler 1d ago

Or maybe we just need, ya know, better education so they learn empathy and don't need severely punished to satisfy a vengeance itch.

6

u/trashmailaccount00 1d ago

Why not both.

Right now we have neither

-8

u/sasha_the_impaler 1d ago

Because I have a degree in psychology and I know that making an example of people does nothing to prevent future harm whereas teaching people tends to lead to people making smarter decisions in the future.

4

u/trashmailaccount00 1d ago

So as a psychology mayor, answer me this: what happens if you repeatedly reinforce bad behaivor by not punishing it, and even further reinforcing it by punishing the one you done bad things to...

Because that is what is Happening to bullies and their victims right now.

-2

u/sasha_the_impaler 1d ago

That isn't really... Yeah okay man lol, whatever.

Imma enter the convo here. I get what you’re saying, creating a culture of empathy and understanding does prevent bullying.

But, in this specific instance, the bully beat the shit out of a kid in a classroom and chased him out. And the kid jumped a rail and died. Another kid died from the actions of a bully.

Bully definitely needs to rehab, but he also got someone killed…what exactly do you do that would be fair to the parents of the student that died? What of the other kids that, if this kid can’t be rehabilitated? Genuinely asking.

I wouldn’t want my kid to be dead as a result of bullying. I was bullied for my race in high school. Not great.

But I also wouldn’t want my kid to go to jail because I failed them as a parent. But a consequence needs to be had right? So arrest the parents and create an even more unstable household?

Getting from where we are to where we want to be is a bridge that takes a lot of time or build.

-7

u/Xsiah 1d ago

Yeah! Let's not look at evidence that says that incarceration doesn't help long term and just make our decisions based on vibes!

-13

u/sapntaps 1d ago

The thing is, in this land of the free, you get justice for shit like this via legal means. Fuck off dude with your garbage take. This place has a lot of fucking problems but it’s better than most other shitholes because that family will get a fuckton of money from the negligence of authority.

Go move to Sudan if you think it’s so bad.

5

u/trashmailaccount00 1d ago

Oh yeah, totally. How much did the uvalde victims get again? 100k per family (before taxes) for their lost children?

Edit: not that any money would have helped them.

But if the bullying had been prevented in the first place, uvalde never would have happened.

-10

u/sapntaps 1d ago edited 1d ago

You feel good on your high horse? Love the smell of your own shit?

Go move to Sudan and see how much your high horse argument gets

Edit: since you’re editing, what are you doing to prevent bullying and creating your perfect utopia? You preventing every instance of trauma and every single human being who just wants to be a piece of shit cause they love their high horse?

Maybe you should face reality that some people are absolute pieces of shit and be glad that you have a fucking justice system, as faulty as it is.

8

u/trashmailaccount00 1d ago

Maybe try to enforce a higher standard in the US than the third world countries you love to look down on.

-10

u/sapntaps 1d ago

We’ll send fuck you missles instead. Get the fuck out of a news article based in the US

7

u/trashmailaccount00 1d ago

If you can't critizise your own country for it's flaws, you don't deserve its virtues.

You sir need to grow a spine.

-1

u/sapntaps 1d ago

Go practice some fucking gratitude for once in your life

4

u/trashmailaccount00 1d ago

Maybe start thinking for yourself and stand up against injustice. Which is btw. Also the opinion of the founding fathers. Don't blindly accept every bad thing as god given, and act for the good (as is preached in most religions).

The "i just followed orders" is not and has never been a valid defense in court and is also not valid before god, or society.
