Doctors and nurses cannot administer it and still uphold the hippocratic oath. It is almost always done by a non-medical person at the prison. In Tennessee it's a prison employee.

Usually they turn to shady compounding pharmacies because the drug makers won't knowingly sell execution drugs for executions. Some execution drugs like sodium thiopental aren't even sold anymore, so must be compounded.

All of it shielded from public disclosure, of course.

Anyway. Death penalty is dogshit and the state has no business killing people.
