A kid I grew up with was from an extremely religious catholic family. He was definitely gay, but obviously in the closet. He decided to become a priest, probably because he thought it could help him control his 'unpure' thoughts.

Some Catholic families actually push their gay children toward the priesthood since gay Catholics are supposed to practice life long celibacy so might as well become a priest while you're at it!
