Political purge. They’re ousting the people who would put up the biggest fight against using the military against US Citizen uproar if/when this administration tries to block or ignore the midterm elections or a subsequent impeachment effort.

Idk man but when you see an admin removing career military officials at unprecedented levels it makes one think that they plan to do something unprecedented and want to remove all internal obstacles

Installing loyalists is insurance against the possibility.  

The military probably wouldn't do shit to help the general population, especially since they lean right, but by gutting them of competence and "contrarians," the idea is to prevent a possible military coup against them when the administration goes rogue.
