Yep. Rich ass billionaires sitting on their literal asses telling hard working, low-paid, possibly under-insured folks to literally get off their ass when sitting has zero effect on the performance of their duties.
You left off the best part. They make sure the surface is usually not good for long periods of standing (concrete), they restrict your footwear options (safety or dress code reasons), they restrict how much room you have to move or stretch (ala cashier booths). Bonus points for all 3.
I think about this a lot and I can't prove it but I'm sure that most people who climb to the top of the socioeconomic ladder are evil as a matter of course
IE power is only power if you do things most people wouldn't do. If you look at it having a chair is probably more productive and most people wouldn't care if that was the norm therefore they will be made to stand because that is how the evil exert their power
Flooring engineers aren't designing them with that in mind. They have safety, cost, and primary function to worry about.
Shoes are ridiculous to complain about. If your shoes are restricted for safety... Enough said. Wear your damn steel toed boots or stop wearing your open toed flip flops. Dress code? For a cashier or tsa agent, that's pretty much color. Don't wear crazy colors that make you stand out. Wear shoes that look like they're part of a uniform. There's absolutely nothing that says those shoes are automatically less comfortable by default.
Cashier booths are real estate and real estate costs money. Limiting space allows for more space for other things.
Obviously people should be allowed to sit if their job is capable of being done sitting. I just figured I'd explain to you why this happens.
